Global Marketing Reach
As a global leader, BAE Systems has world wide reach into markets on all continents. Key to the success of the company and its customers is its Marketing function. The key roles of the Marketing organisation are to:
Create and maintain close and lasting relationships with our key customers to make sure that their needs are understood and that their purchasing decisions can be influenced.
Develop and embed common processes that will ensure that the company presents a consistent front to customers, and to promote and share best practice.
Develop strong relationships with business units and programmes in order to understand the companys capabilities and to set realistic targets.
The central Marketing function, comprising principally of Managing Directors with regional responsibilities, is responsible for identifying market opportunities and establishing priorities. Among them are owning relationships with the most senior members of customer organisations, and orchestrating and coordinating campaigns. It supports the integrated campaign teams and is the source of common processes and functional skills for sales and marketing people.
Sales staff in business units and programmes are responsible for owning operational level relationships with customer organisations; for leading and resourcing integrated campaign teams working on their products, and, in concert with the central Marketing function, for managing and delivering activity leading to winning contracts.
