BAE Systems owns 20% of Airbus, the world’s most productive manufacturer of aeroplanes and recognised the most successful international cross-border co-operation project.

Our Aerostructures business is a leading producer of aircraft assemblies with major programmes for both Airbus and Boeing. The Regional Aircraft business is a major force in regional aircraft leasing, integrated customer support programmes and engineering, and is responsible for over 1,000 regional airliners operating worldwide.

BAE Systems is also a leader in systems for large commercial aircraft and regional jets including flight controls, digital engine controls, cockpit displays, head-up displays, navigation and flight deck systems.

With the development and launch of the new 550 seat A380 double-deck airliner, Airbus now offers a family of aircraft spanning the entire large commercial jet market.

Aerostructures offers customers a total airframe solution. The innovative rib design on the A380 wing structure reduced the weight of each wing set by 500kg.

Regional Aircraft continues to win substantial leasing business for its BAe 146/Avro RJ portfolio with blue-chip European operators such as SN Brussels Airlines and Lufthansa that will see the aircraft continue to operate front-line service with these carriers well into the next decade.
