Fifty expectant faces can be very daunting! The conference would put my presentation skills to the ultimate test, even though I was confident of my subject matter, Value Based Management, which I had helped introduce to my Business Unit.
With three years PQE under my belt, I had been looking to make my first move into industry. The role had to be varied and I wanted a broad insight into real-life financial and operational issues. Over time, each new assignment has presented its own set of challenges and has enabled me to significantly develop my skills in a broad range of operational and strategic, as well as financial, areas. The role has also given me an excellent introduction to the whole of BAE SYSTEMS and the broad range of issues it faces in setting the benchmark in the aerospace industry.
I am now moving into a key role working on an important bid which requires me to perform alongside an experienced multi-disciplinary team. The skills I have gained from 18 months in Internal Audit were key factors in me being offered this role.
As for that Conference? My presentation went well. From the feedback I have since received I am pleased that I have been able to deliver major change into the business.
