A common perception of engineering is that of servicing a car or repairing a television.
Whilst this is correct, it is only a small part of what engineering really involves.
Everything that is man-made is in some way “engineered”. Engineering impacts on everything we
do. From the house we live in, how we get to school or work, our computers and electronic
games to watching television beamed into our home via satellite. They all focus on engineering.
Imagine an occupation that dedicates itself to improving the world in which we live, this
is the world of engineering. Engineering within BAE Systems is world-class. It has to be. Our
customers demand products and services that are the best in the world. To be this good we
have to be at the pinnacle of engineering excellence and our engineers need to be the best.
Using examples taken from all areas of BAE Systems, the Engineering Excellence campaign
aims to promote the importance of engineering and the engineers behind the technologies that
are helping to improve the way we live both now and in the future. Visit our "examples" page
to gain an insight into some of the exciting new BAE Systems technologies currently being
developed.
If you’d like to know more, we’d love to tell you. Visit our "Facts" page to find out some
very interesting facts about BAE Systems engineering such as what a Eurofighter aircraft and
a McLaren Formula 1 car have in common. You can also contact us with your queries on
Engineering Excellence and tell us what you think of the campaign. There is a lot more to
engineering than you might imagine. Our "Ideas" page highlights some of the more unusual
activities of a BAE Systems engineer and how engineering has allowed them to realise their
lifelong ambition.
