MBDA
With an annual turnover exceeding EUR 2 billion (US¤ 2.2 billion), a forward order book of EUR 14 billion (US¤ 15.2 billion) and over 70 customers world wide, MBDA is a world leading, global missile systems company. MBDA currently has 45 missile system and countermeasure programmes in operational service and has proven its ability as prime contractor to head major multi-national projects.

MBDA was the result of the merging of the following companies:
  • Matra BAe Dynamics (50% BAE Systems and 50% EADS)
  • EADS-Aerospatiale Matra Missiles (100% EADS)
  • Alenia Marconi Systems missile activity (50% BAE Systems and 50% Finmeccanica)


MAIN FEATURES and ADVANTAGES of the new group

MBDA IS ABLE TO :

  • Satisfy the requirements of the three armed forces with a fully comprehensive range of missiles already in production and provide solutions for all future needs

  • Guarantee customers access to a new generation of weapon systems with through-life support for existing missile systems and the development of future technology

  • Arm all current European platforms (Eurofighter Typhoon, Mirage 2000, Rafale, Gripen, Tiger, Lynx, NH-90, new frigates, etc.)

  • Arm other platforms (F-16, F/A18, frigates, combat helicopters, etc.)

  • Act either as prime contractor or principal partner in the development of major European collaborative programmes (Meteor, Aster SAAM/PAAMS, Storm Shadow/SCALP-EG, etc.)

  • Continue research and development into future programmes such as Anti Ballistic Defence and Future Offensive Airborne Systems (FOAS)

  • Provide appropriate and integrated solutions to satisfy European missile and missile systems requirements. Further consolidate the European missile industry as a major player capable of forging equal partnerships with US industry

  • Substantiate its status as a forward looking company with a strong financial base

  • Set the standard for successful multi-national integration proven by the company’s strong, multi-cultural and fully integrated management
