BAE SYSTEMS NAMES RICHARD SCHIEFFELIN PRESIDENT OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY UNIT
MCLEAN, Virginia -- BAE Systems has named Richard Schieffelin as president of the company's Information Technology business. He succeeds Bill Shernit who retired last August following an 18-year career with BAE Systems.
In announcing the appointment, BAE Systems Customer Solutions President Marshall Banker said, "Rick has done an outstanding job as acting president. He has been instrumental in maintaining the strong reputation of performance that BAE Systems Information Technology has earned as one of the government's largest suppliers of IT. The business has continued to provide innovative solutions and customer support generating levels of customer satisfaction largely unmatched by anyone else in the industry.”
“As president of BAE Systems Information Technology, Rick will support the rapidly growing federal outsourcing market by providing enterprise IT services to government and other external customers and will also focus on continuing in-sourcing of centralized, high quality, highly reliable, cost effective IT services across BAE Systems’ U.S. enterprise,” Banker added.
Schieffelin joined BAE Systems in 1982 as a quality analyst and has subsequently held a succession of program, financial and business management, and executive positions; serving most recently as senior vice president of the Intelligence, Defense, Federal and Civilian lines of business of the IT business unit. Prior to that, he was vice president and general manager of the company’s Enterprise Systems business.
Schieffelin holds a bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York at Cortland and completed three years of graduate studies in the doctoral program in American History at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
