The groups under our Operational/Capital/Services organisation include a range of critical business elements that not only help the business achieve success in its market sector strategies, but its customers’ strategies.

Our Avionics Group is well positioned with the vision to forecast the ever-challenging complexity of our changing world. Our customers are increasingly involved in complex coalition warfare and peacekeeping, demanding 24-hour all-weather operation, precision targeting, situation awareness and self-protection. Avionics is there to meet the need with a wide range of innovative platforms or systems and solutions tailored to meet the objectives of our customers.

Recognising the need for collaboration and the ability to harness innovative thinking from all corners of the globe, BAE Systems has a huge community of partners and participates in joint ventures - collaborating with corporations such as AMS, Gripen International, MBDA, Atlas Electronik, Saab and Airbus, as well as working closely with major U.S. platform and sub-system manufacturers such as Boeing, Lockheed Martin, and Raytheon.

The number of joint ventures and joint projects runs into hundreds. Through our ownership of many of the best technologies, we are in demand as a partner in important programmes such as the Eurofighter Typhoon, the new F-22 and the Joint Strike Fighter in the U.S., and on major naval and land-based projects.

We are also a member of the Airbus Industrie consortium - one of the world’s largest commercial aircraft makers. Our success depends on large numbers of partners and suppliers working with us towards common goals: to provide high-quality, reliable solutions on time, to cost, and at the exacting specification demanded by the customer.

The other groups within this organisation specialise in a number of products and services offered internally and externally of the company. Through our Capital and Ventures Groups we provide investment and financial services for not only meeting the needs of the company, but for our customers. Our Aerostructures and Regional Aircraft Groups, in conjunction with Airbus and other partners and customers, represent our strength in the civil aircraft market. Our RO Defence Group is a key component of our vast land capabilities and our CVF Prime Contract Office is working to develop the most sophisticated aircraft carrier the Royal Navy has ever launched. Our Shared Services Group is mandated with managing and providing services within and outside the company, leveraging economies of scale or scope.
